RUNNING FROM SHADOWS is a Hard Rock/Metal band from Louisiana. Their upcoming album, Negative Nancy, is for anyone who feels like no one gives a shit—especially those who are tired of life. It’s about hanging on when everything sucks.
The album was recorded DIY, with no budget, in a trailer park in Columbia, Louisiana. At first, Darren White (singer/guitarist) tried using a drum machine, but it just didn’t feel right. So he put the album on hold for almost a year, hunting for a drummer who could make it feel more human. That drummer ended up being Ty Del Rose from Smile Empty Soul, who recorded his parts in his home studio between tours. The album stayed messy, raw, and real—the way it was supposed to be.
The sound mixes hard rock, metal, indie, grunge, and punk, but at its heart, it’s emotional and honest. Darren says:
“I actually had an entirely different album finished and ready to record, but I realized I didn't have the money to get it to sound the way I wanted. So I decided to put it on hold and start over. I knew I was going to have to make a record that could use a cheap DIY style as its strength. The process took FOREVER—having to restart, being broke, not finding band members, all while struggling with a million of life's problems made this album go through so many delays. So many. I wanted to give up countless times, but what's crazy is that these songs kept me going. They really stuck with me, especially the title track, and that's the goal of the album: to stick in listeners' heads and remind them to keep enduring.”
Negative Nancy is for the underdogs, the forgotten, the ones struggling to keep going. No sugarcoating, no fluff—just raw, real, and intentional.
